Saturday Shop Spotlight: Moonspell Crafts

Our first Saturday Shop Spotlight is on the team captain's shop, Moonspell Crafts, owned and operated by the amazing Alura. It doesn't matter if you're looking for hand crafted journals, bath & body products, hand stamped ribbon or a tarot reading...Moonspell Crafts has what you're looking for. And that's not close to all she creates.

Q: How did you first decide to open shop?
A: I decided to try Etsy just last February....my crafts were not seeing much action on e-bay. Etsy was much more crafter friendly so I started with a few items.

Luxurious Blood Orange Ritual Soap - Cleansing

Q: When did you first decide to follow the Path you're on?
A: I've known since I was little that I was pagan, when I was 12 I preferred wandering though woods rather than play with other kids. It was more fun chasing dragons and fairies!  When I was 24 a friend gave me Scott Cunningham's book and that was all I needed! It confirmed everything I felt and believed. I've been Wiccan since then.  Finally I started to be very drawn to the Avalonian Path. I joined the Sisterhood of Avalon a few years ago, not to mention that I have tons of books on Celtic history, myths and legends. I consider my self a High Priestess and I try my best to live by the Rede and the Law of 3.

OOAK Goth Greeting card Gothic Vampire - Bitten

Q: What has been the most challenging aspect of running your shop?
A: I think for me it's photography. I like to do different things and I'm not into the urban chic look that's plastered all over the front page of etsy. I try to take good pics, but I'm no pro!

Q: What are your favorite materials to work with?

A: Paper. All sorts of papers and images...one can do a lot with paper!

OOAK Neo Victorian Rococo Marie Antoinette Journal

Q: What is your favorite item in your shop? Why?
A: Right now it's my Marie Antoinette Shrine. I love how it looks neo-Victorian but also I'm a huge Marie fan...she was framed!!!

Q: Where do you draw inspiration from to create?

A: My inspiration comes from many places, love of antiques, love of history, my tradition, my lifestyle and the fact that I live with a vampire who also inspires me! Some of my stuff is very light but sometimes, there are a few dark pieces. LOL

Q: What profession, other than yours, would you like to attempt?

A: Well, I'd like to be a writer and have the means to absolutely loaf and write without the worry of bills and debts...I do write now but not as much as I'd like to!

Romeo and Juliet Hand-fasting Witch's Ladder

Q: What would we be surprised to learn about you?
A: I've traveled extensively, including the whole Caribbean, London, Athens, the Bahamas and Venezuela...I've also seen every state east of the Rockies and every province of Canada east of the Rockies except for Prince Edward Island...we'll be checking it out this summer most likely...
